Stage Sessions is a passion project and student organised event held at SAE University College at the end of every Trimester. The concept was originally developed in early 2023 by Alisa Meakinen and fellow students during a Stagecraft and Live Performance class. Following the success of the first Stage Sessions event, Alisa Meakinen (Head Event Organiser/Marketer) and Olivia Crawford (Head Audio Engineer/Co-Event Organiser) recognised the potential and saw an opportunity to grow the project into a brand and recurring event series. Driven by a shared commitment and belief in supporting student organised events, both Alisa and Olivia are dedicated to creating new opportunities to help students and young creatives build their professional portfolios through real world Experiences.
Olivia recruits fellow engineers studying Audio at SAE, and prepares them for the show. She develops production riders, organises meetings, and conducts tech runs with the performing artists. Her main goal is for young passionate engineers like herself to gain experience in their craft by working together as a team and taking part in a student organised event. Olivia also operates Front of House, live mixing and recording each set through the Midas M32 Live Sound Desk into Pro Tools. After mixing and mastering the session, all final cuts are provided to the artists and crews to use in their portfolios.
Whether you are studying Film, Audio, Music, Animation, or Creative Industries, Stage Sessions offers the opportunity to participate in a live event led by students. Encouraging collaboration across disciplines and providing hands-on experience in a real world production setting. Each event features a new lineup of performers, audio crews, and film teams, giving a new set of students each trimester the chance to step into different roles and gain valuable experience. With each new team, the professional grade equipment available at SAE is used to capture and deliver a high quality production of a Stage Sessions event.
